The Danish Documentary The Good Life will be screened at Iceland´s PBS RÚV tonight at 22:20. The film is worth recommending but it has been screened at several film festivals and awarded numerous awards, f.ex. the Doc Alliance award at CPH:DOX. See previous posts about the film here.
The Good Life (dir. Eva Mulvad 2010) tells the story of mother and daughter, Mette and Anne Mette, living in coastal town in Portugal struggling to support themselves of 20 Euros pr. week. They used to be rich and live the good life. Now their heritage fund has run out and have even sold the family silver and paintings to get by. Having never worked in her life, the daughter Anne Mette finds it hard to adjust to this new reality but is not willing to make an effort to change the situation. “I would rather die than work” is her motto.
For those who don´t have RÚV, the film can be bought on DVD directly from Danish Documentary. T-shirt with Anne Mettes motto is also available for those interested. The still above is from CPH:DOXs website.
