February film festivals

Although half of February is nearly over, it´s better late than never to post a list about some of the European film festivals coming up. Berlinale is without a doubt one of the month´s highights and the award ceremony on Sunday night. It´s worth mentioning the live streaming and video archive on Berlinale´s website. As of now, there are videos of two related docs available; the video from the press conference for Marley, a documentary about musician Bob Marley, directed by Kevin McDonald and a video interview with the director of documentary Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry, Alison Klayman.

But there are also some other film festivals to enjoy this month:

The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival will be held in Dublin, Ireland from the 16th-26th of February. The film festival´s focus is on features but 17 documentaries will be screened at the festival. One of those docs is the acclaimed documentary Buck, about the one and only horse whisperer Buck Brannaman. The film is directed by Cindy Meehl (2011) and has won several awards at last year’s Sundance, Rockport Film Festival, and Bergen Film Festival. The programme can be found here.

Exposures – new talent in moving image is a student short film festival, held in Manchester England 21st-23th of February. The festival screens films under 30 minutes of any genre made by students in UK universities between August 2010 and July 2011.

Puento de Vista, International Documentary Film Festival of Navarra, Pamplona, Spain 21st-26th of February. The film festival has five sections; official section, retrospectives, The central region, Heterodocsies and special sessions. It seems that the programme is not yet available on the festiva´s website.
